| Term | Definition |

| Heresy | a baptized Roman Catholic who willfully and persistently rejects any article of faith |
| Partialism | taught that Father, Son and Holy Spirit together are components of the one God; each person is 1/3 of god |
| Tritheism | the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as three independent divine beings |
| Arianism | God the Father created Jesus; The Father and the Son are not one with each other |
| Adoptionism | taught that Jesus was born totally human and only later was “adopted” by God and then became divine |
| Docetism | taught that Jesus Christ as a purely divine being who only had the “appearance” of being human; only "appeared" to suffer on the cross |
| Modalism | Father, Son, and Holy Spirit act in different modes and were never triune |
| Faith | both a gift from God and a full human choice |
| Sign of the Cross | a prayerful gesture that involves your hand, your head, and your heart |
| The Holy Trinity | the mystery of one God in three Divine Persons |
| Grace | the free, loving gift of God's life and help |
