cutting sutures | cut close to the knot and pull the sutures with forceps by grabbing the knot and pulling, observing to ensure suture was removed. |
equipment for suture removal | stitch or suture scissors and forceps, a staple removal device. |
eye, ear, and topical medications | ensure medication is room temperature, the patient properly positioned, and gloves are worn. tip of containers should not come in direct contact. |
mole or cyst removal | moles that change color, size, or texture should be evaluated for cancer. cysts are collections of fluid that can be infectious. |
cryosurgery | the process of exposing tissues to extreme cold temperatures to destroy cells. may be performed for conditions such as warts or cervical dysplasia. |
colposcopy/hysteroscopy | using an instrument to inspect the vaginal area and the cervix or the uterus and deliver treatments or perform diagnostic testing. |
endoscopy | a small tube with a light and camera is inserted into the upper or lower gastrointestinal system or through a small incision to access a body cavity for inspection or minor procedures such a biopsies. |
toenail removal/ ingrown toenail treatment | a toenail removal can be partial or complete. the provider removes a toenail spur that is causing an ingrown toenail. is completed after local anesthetic or digital block. |
electrosurgery or electrocauterization | a pulse of electrical current is sent through tissue to cauterize tissue. used to minimize or stop bleeding, destroy small polyps, or break scar tissue. |
