Who invented the Lateen sail? the Lateen sail was an ISLAMIC invention.
Who invented the Compass? the Compass was a CHINESE invention.
What developments came because of the design of astronomical charts? The developments included the production of new tools, innovations in ship designs, and an improved understanding of regional wind and currents patterns—all of which made transoceanic travel and trade possible.
Why was the North star important? People used it for navigation. It was usually visible in the night sky and sailors became versed in how to read the stars like a map.

What was a Fluyt? A fluyt"flute"; is a Dutch type of sailing vessel originally designed by the shipwrights of Hoorn as a dedicated cargo vessel.
How did the fluyt impact trade? The fluyt gave a large boost to Dutch trade in Asia, since local trade within Asia could be carried out at a much lower cost. During much of the 16th and 17th centuries, the Dutch VOC contributed about half of Europe's trade with Asia.
