Renaissance and reformation.

QuestionAnswer
Renaissance. The period of European history at the close of the Middle Ages and the rise of the modern world; a cultural rebirth from the 14th through the rebirth: the revival of learning and culture
Humanism. The cultural movement of the Renaissance; based on classical studies
Renaissance Man. A scholar during the Renaissance who (because knowledge was limited) could know almost everything about many topics
Patron. Someone who supports or champions something
Realism. The attribute of accepting the facts of life and favoring practicality and literal truth
Protestant. Protestantism is a movement within Christianity that originated in the sixteenth-century Protestant Reformation.
Reformation. A religous moment of the 16th century.
Vernacular. Common being or characteristic of or appropriate to everyday language
Indulgences. An inability to resist the gratification of whims and desires
Heretic. A person who holds religious beliefs in conflict with the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church
Excommunicated. A religious censure used to deprive or suspend membership in a religious community
Inquisition. A severe interrigation.
Anti-semetism. The intense dislike for and prejudice against Jewish people
