Social Organizations | Structure of social relations within a group. Examples- family (MOST IMPORTANT) |

Extended Family | Aunts, Uncles, Grand-parents etc. |
Ideas | Customs and Traditions specific to a culture . Example- Food, Clothing, Architecture, Music etc. |
Ethnocentrisms | Judging other cultures by standards of your own |
Racism | The belief that ones racial group is superiors to another |

Paleolithic Man | Old Stone Age, abt 2 Million years ago |
Characteristics of Paleolithic Man (there are 7) | 1. shaped stone tools 2. fire 3. less ape like 4. lived in smaller groups with few children 5. social equality 6. hunters and gathers 7. cave paintings, animal skin clothing & pots |
Neolithic Age | End of Ice Age, abt 9,000 B.CE |
Characteristics of Neolithic Man (there are 6) | 1. first farmers (developed agriculture) 2. domestication of animals 3. built permanent housing 4. regular work 5. grew resistant to diseases 6. shaped metal tools (bronze and copper) 7. specialization of skills (metal working) |

Egypt | Developed near Nile River (flows North), located by deserts, ruled by Pharaoh- King believed to be half god |

Economy in Egypt | Farmed wheat and cotton |
Slaves | worked on building projects etc. |
Society in Egypt | Polytheistic; part animal head part human body, built pyramids for tombs |
