monarchy | a form of government with one leader (a monarch - king, queen) |
democracy | a form of government that is ruled by the people |
oligarchy | a form of government in which a small group of people have control |
imports | goods that are brought INTO a country |
exports | goods that sent OUT of the country |
trade | the action of buying and selling goods and services |
social classes | a division of a society based on social and economic status |
hierarchy | a system in which people are ranked one above the other according to authority. |
agriculture | the practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for growing crops and rearing of animals to provide food and other products |
empire | an extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme leader (emperor, or empress) |
city-states | a state usually with a city as its power center that has political and economic control over its surrounding area |
artifacts | an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest. |
archaeology | the study of human history through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains. |
