What were the dates for the Classical Era? The Classical Era lasted from about 600 BC to AD (or CE) 600.
What were the Classical Era's main characteristics? Its main characteristics were iron, enduring (thus the name classical) ideas, and the Axial age (new philosophies and religions).
How can you remember the FOUR Civilizations during the Classical Era? You can remember the four civilizations with the term GRInCh (or Greece, Rome, India, China).

What did GREECE consist of? Greece consisted of city-states, the most famous being Athens and Sparta. Athens was an early form of democracy. Philosophers like Socrates lived in Athens; drama, mythology, and science were also strong.
What is the name of the famous Green Conqueror? Alexander the Great conquered much of the middle east in the 300s but his empire split when he died young. He attempted to blend several cultures (Hellenism).

What was the religion in Rome during the Classical Era? Christianity began at this time. Rome only partially fell as the Byzantine Empire continued another 1000 years until 1453.
When did "Fall of Rome" happen? Rome only partially fell as the Byzantine Empire continued another 1000 years until 1453.
When did Buddhism begin in South Asia? Buddhism began in South Asia about 500 BC.
Who governed India in the BC Days? India was governed by the Maurya in the BC days.
What South Asian Emperor became a Buddhist and promoted peace? Emperor Ashoka became a Buddhist and promoted peace.
Who ruled India in the AD/CE days? The Gupta ruled India in the AD/CE days.
Who invented the Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.)? The Gupta invented Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.).
What were the important products of India during the AD/CE days? Spices, gems, and cotton were important products.
Around when did Confucius live? Confucius lived about 500 BC.
What dynasty ruled China when the Great Wall was built? How long did they rule for? The Qin dynasty ruled China briefly (built the Great Wall) about 200 BC followed by 400 years of the Han dynasty.
What was Confucius' view of merchants? Confucius had a low view of merchants.
What dynasty came first? The Han or the Qin dynasty in China? What dates did each rule? The Qin dynasty ruled China briefly (built the Great Wall) about 200 BC followed by 400 years of the Han dynasty.
