Time Period of the River Valley Civilizations. 3500 BC to 600 BC
TINY MICE Tigris Euphrates, Indus, Nile, and Yellow Rivers; Mesopotamia, India, China and Egypt
Mesopotamia (Tigris Euphrates River) Wheel and one of the earliest forms of writing (Cuneiform).
Mesopotamia (Hammurabi) One of the earliest written forms of law was created here, and governments tended to be smaller and short lived.
Egypt (Nile River) Pyramids, mummified their dead, wrote on papyrus.
Egypt (Pharaohs) Ruled over fairly long kingdoms; had trade and war with Mesopotamia.
India (South Asia near the Indus River) Consisted of City-States; writing has not been translated.
India (1500 BC) Aryan people took over with their proto-Hinduism
China (Yellow River) Rice, invented silk, and practiced proto-Daoism
China (Zhou dynasty) Replaced Shang dynasty about 1000 BC. Most isolated out of the four civilizations.
