Middle Passage The voyage that brought Africans to West Indies, North America, and South America.
Consequences of the Slave Trade Contributed greatly to economic and cultural development; brought African art, music, and food to the Americas; and introduced items from all around the world.
Columbia Exchange The global transfer of food, plants, animals, and diseases during the colonization of America.
Why did North and South America desire African slaves, rather than slaves from some other nation? Immunity built up to diseases; experienced in farming and agriculture; and little knowledge of the area, so were less likely to try to escape.
Items that were traded FROM the Americas TO Europe, Africa, and Asia? Tobacco, pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes, quince, avocados, peppers, cassavas, pineapples, cacao beans, beans, vanilla, peanuts, potatoes, tomatoes, and corn.
Items that were traded TO the Americas FROM Europe, Africa, and Asia? Onions, olives, citrus fruits, coffee beans, grapes, bananas, sugar cane, peaches, pears, bees, wheat, rice, barley, oats, cattle, sheep, pigs, and horses.
