| Cause of death | events that prompted death ex. heart stop beatings/ stop breathing |
| Manner of death | the way a person died |
| trauma | Injury caused of living tissue by outside force |
| antemortem | before death, did injury happen before death |
| perimortem | around or near death |
| postmortem | how long has been since death: |
| simple fracture | broken into two segments |
| comminuted fracture | break result of multiple segments |
| nfraction | part of the fraction area still attached to bone at unnatural angle |
| pathological fracture | breaks that are in bones weakened by disease |
| Stress fractures | breaks come from overuse |
| tension | force pulls the bone, usually along long axis. |
| compression | force pushed down on bone |
| torsion | wisting corse, one bone is usually stationary, other end trauma |
| bending | impacts side of structure at aproxx. right angles to long axis adults |
| Shearing | immobilized segment of bone , force applied to the side |
