aden/o gland
adren/o – adrenal gland (caution about the spelling of aden/o and adren/o)
cortic/o outer surface (cortex)
gonad/o gonads (ovaries in females, testes in males)
pancreat/o pancreas
pituitar/o pituitary gland
hypophsy/o pituitary gland
thym/o means thymus gland (located in the mediastinum).

BS blood sugar
CGM continuous glucose monitor
FBS fasting blood sugar
GTT glucose tolerance test
HgA1C hemoglobin A1C test (gives a history of blood sugar levels)
TFT thyroid function test
ERCP endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
DI diabetes insipidus
DM diabetes melllitus
IDDM insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 1)
NIDDM noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 2)
CSII continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (used in conjunction with CGM)
HRT hormone replacement therapy
Glycemic index a relative ranking of carbohydrate in foods according to how they affect the blood glucose levels
