Holmes and Wyman | harvard anatomy professors that determined remains to be Parkman's - 5'10", white, 50-60 years old. Formative period. |
John Webster | Man who killed George Parkman, killed him after Parkman confronted him about selling his minerals (which were used for mortgage). Formative period |
George Dorsey | Assistant curator at the field museum, Harvard trained anthropology, 2nd person to earn PhD in anthropology in US. Examined Leutgert case bones - found 4 bones (Metacarpal, head of rib, phalanx, sesamoid). Methods criticized. Formative period |
Ales Hrdlicka | Curator of Physical Anthropology, Smithsonian Institute. Consultant for FBI, founding editor of American Journal of Physical Anthropology. Formative period. |
Wilton Marion Krogman | Wrote "Guide to the Human Skeleton in Forensic Medicine", which started the consolidation period. All wrote book "The Human Skeleton in Forensic Medicine", which was first book published for forensic anthropology, even though he never used that term |
T Dale Stewart | Curator of Physical Anthropology at Smithsonian after Hrdlicka. Wrote "Essentials of Forensic Anthropology" - first book that popularized term. Also consultant with FBI. Consolidation period. |
