Accelerated Motion (Fast Motion) | A shot that is sped up to appear faster that it was in reality. |
Aspect Ratio | The height-to-width ratio of the projected screen image. |
Back Lighting | A lighting situation where the source is directed at an angle facing the camera lens, usually creates a silhouette |
Cinema Scope | Term for wide screen process coined by 20th Century Fox trade name for wide screen process (Ratio of 1:2.35) |
Cinema Verite | Real-life depicted filming without complex and formal techniques used in order to emphasize the circumstantial situation (Used in documentaries, also in films like Rome, Open City) |
Composition | An aesthetic arrangement of the mise en scene creating balance between light, mass, shadow, color, and movement |
Continuity Editing | A particular style of editing that maintains a seemingly continuos a flow of action in one scene |
Crane Shot | A shot typically holding the camera at the top of a construction crane, offering a higher pan of the scene |
Cross-Cutting | The switching of shots from one location to another creating an abstract relationship between the two, Originally used for montage and assemblage, |
