Term | Definition |

Deposit of Faith | The heritage of faith contained Sacred Tradition and Scripture. |
Divine Revelation | God's self-communication whereby he makes known the mystery of his divine plan. He most fully did this when he sent us his own divine Son, Jesus Christ. |
Disciple | Follower of Jesus. The word literally means "learner." |
Magisterium | Official teaching authority of the Church that resides in the Pope (the successor of Peter) & the bishops in communion with him. |
Incarnation | A core Catholic teaching that the Son of God took on flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. |
Dogma | A central truth of Revelation that Catholics are obliged to believe. |
Gospel | Literally, "Good News." Refers to the Good News preached by Jesus, the salvation of won for us through Jesus (he is himself the Good News,) the 4 written records of the Good News; Mt., Mk. , Lk., Jn. |
Christ | A title given for Jesus that means "anointed one." In Hebrew, it is Messiah. |
Lord | A title for Jesus which translates the Greek word "Kurios," which rendered the Hebrew (Adonai) word for God. |
Heresy | An obstinate denial after Baptism of a truth that must be believed with faith. |
