Stratum Papillare contains dermal papilla, blood vessels, and nerve endings
Stratum Reticulare bundles of collagen (reticular fibers) are responsible for cleavage lines
Invagination developmental process that gives rise to hair follicles & glands
Follicle continuation of epidermis (stratified squamous epithelium)
Arrector Pili Muscles attach b/w hair follicle & stratum papillar of dermis

Types of Skin Glands sebaceous glands, sudoriferous glands
Sebaceous Gland oily gland, secretes sebum
Sebum oily substance that lubricates, moisturizes, helps waterproof the skin, and serves as an antimicrobial agent
Eccerine Sudoriferous Gland sweat gland, produces watery odorless sweat
Apocrine Sudoriferous Gland sweat gland, produces watery sweat that mixes with bacteria on surface of skin and becomes odorous. distributes pheromones
