The reasons why th Bolheviks won the Civil War.

| Geography: What did the Reds control that the Whites didn't? | Reds had the hub of communications. Petrograd and Moscow (both highly populated lots Bolshevik supporters) Whites were widely spread around in rural areas with low population so hard to rally up as many men as the Bolsheviks could. |
| Leadership: Describe the power of Trotsky's leadership and compare this to the White leadership. | During the Civil War Trotsky travelled 65K miles on his special train to rally and boost the moral of Red Army troops. Did this by making inspirational speeches. White leaders treated their troops with contempt. They lived in a haze of vodka and cocaine. |
| Unity and organisation: What were the Reds fighting for? | The Reds were all fighting for one reason to keep their ideological beliefs playing in Russia. Trotsky appointed political commissioners to insert communist ideology into troops. |
| Unity and organisation: What were the Whites fighting for? | Compared to the Reds the White groups were all fighting for different purposes. They either fought to bring monarchism, republicanism or Constituent Assembly. Because of this it was impossible for them to develop a political strategy. |

| Unity and organisation: Why was propaganda used? | To gain support of the Russian people. Compete with Whites propaganda. Reds propaganda was more effective than Whites propaganda. |
| Support: State one reason why Reds had more support than the Whites. | Red polices overall were more popular (especially with the peasants) for example, Bolsheviks gave permission for peasant workers to seize the land of their landlords. Whites said they'd hand that stolen land back to their rightful owner. |
