What did John Kay invent? The Flying Shuttle.
In which year did John Kay invent the Flying Shuttle? 1733.
What did the Flying Shuttle do? Speeded up the weaving operation because it co pass through the warp threads faster and over a greater width of cloth. This meant more cloth could be produced. Also, it didn't need two to operate it unlike before.
What did James Hargreaves invent? The Spinning Jenny.
In which year did John Kay invent the Spinning Jenny? 1764.
What did Lewis Paul invent with the help of John Wyatt? A spinning machine.
When did Lewis Paul and John Wyatt invent the spinning machine? 1732.
What did the spinning machine do? The idea for it was to draw the fibres through sets of rollers turning at different speeds.
Who was Richard Arkwright? An inventor, entrepreneur with a capital of £200,00. Spent a lot of money investing the design and manufacture of new machines that were not human powered.
What did Samuel Crompton invent? The 'Mule'.
In which year did Samuel invent the Mule? 1779.
What did the Mule do? Well it expanded on what the Spinning Jenny by James Hargreaves could do. As a child he used the Spinning Jenny and he found a lot of faults that needed sorting. With the Mule he fixed those things. It produced lots of high quality yarn on a big scale.
What did Edmund Cartwright invent? The Power Loom
In which year did Edmund Cartwright invent the Power Loom? 1785.
What did the Power Loom do? Basically it was an attempt to make the whole weaving process automated. His first machine didn't manage this, but his second did.
