| Phlebotomy | The practice of drawing blood. Incision of a vein for the letting of blood. (collection of any type of blood specimen: venous, arterial or capillary) |
| Bloodletting | The practice of cutting veins to start blood flow, which was intended as therapy and religious beliefs |

| Scarification | The removal of large amounts of blood, which was done very quickly to cause fainting |
| Cupping | Using heated glass to pull capillary blood upward |
| Polycythemia | Over production of red blood cells |
| Hemochromotosis | Excessive absorption and accumulation of iron |
| EKG | Electrocardiogram |
| Acrocyanosis | A blueness of the hands and feet caused by disturbance to the superficial veins |
| Anticoagulant | Substance that prevents clotting |
| Cardiovascular | Pertaining to the heart and blood vessels |
| Cyanosis | Condition in which the skin turns bluish due to lack of oxygen in the blood |
| Edema | Interstitial fluid trapped in tissues puffy apperance |
| Exudate | Fluid secreted by tissue.......pus |
| Febrile | With fever |
| Hematoma | Collection of blood, which has been trapped in the tissue |
| Hemolysis | Breakdown of RBC's releases hemoglobin into the plasma |
