Who was Tang Taizong? Emperor Taizong of Tang was previously Prince of Qin, he was the second emperor of the Tang dynasty of China, ruling from 626 to 649
Who was Wu Zhao? empress of China from 690 to 705; she was the only woman to hold the title of emperor and was very powerful.
What was a movable type? blocks of metal or wood, each bearing a single character, that can be arranged to make up a page for printing.
What was a gentry? a class of powerful, well-to-do people who enjoy a high social status.
What was the Silla Dynasty? a dynasty that unified Korea and ruled from AD 668 to 935.
What was the Koryo Dynasty? a dynasty that ruled Korea from AD 935 to 1392.
What is Shinto? the native religion of Japan
Who were the Samurai? one of the professional warriors who served Japanese feudal lords
What was the Bushido? the strict code of behavior followed by samurai warriors in Japan
What was the Shogun? in feudal Japan, a supreme military commander who ruled in the name of the emperor
