Who was Tunka Manin? The emperor in which Ghana reached its height under.
What is a silent barter? A process in which people exchange goods without ever contacting each other directly.
Who was Sundiata? founder of the Empire of Mali, his reign is recorded in legends.
Who was Mansa Musa? Mali's greatest and most famous ruler, he was a devout Muslim. He made a famous pilgrimage to Mecca that helped spread Mali's fame.
Who was sunni Ali? Emperor of Songhai, he conquered Mali and made Songhai into a powerful state.
Who was Askia the Great? Songhai ruler, he overthrew Sunni Baru. His reign was the high point of Songhai culture.
What is oral history? A spoken record of the past.
Who were the griots? West African storytellers
What are proverbs? Short sayings of wisdom or truth.
what is a kente? A hand-woven, brightly colored fabric.
Define process. A series of steps by which a task is accomplished.
Define various. Of many types.
What was Koumbi Saleh? It was the great trading city of Ghana.
Who were the Almoravids? A group of people from the North, they traded with the people of Ghana, and over time ended up attacking Ghana.
Who were the Soninkes? They were farmers who formed Ghana. After they bonded, Ghana increased in strength.
