What is subsistence farming? The process where villagers trade food with small groups of people in their villages.
What is the Indus River Valley? The site of one of the world's oldest civilizations.
What is the Deccan Plateau? The south of the Indo-Ganges Plain,when the land begins to rise.
What is the Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro? Two cities that homed thousands of people.
What's Sanskrit? Sanskrit is a different language from other people who lived in the valley.
What are the Vedas? The Vedas, also known as the "Books of Knowledge", contain writings of songs and stories written from memory.
What are brahmins? Priests and teachers who held a high position in society
What are sudras? Sudras are the serfs/peasants of their society.
Who is Cyrus II? Cyrus II is said to have been the founder of the Persian Empire.
Who is King Darius I? The one who followed Cyrus II and brought the Persian Empire to India.
Who is Ashoka? Chandragupta's grandson who took power in around 270 b.c.
What is Hinduism? The main religion in India.
What is the Rig Veda? A collection of more than 1,000 hymns that priests recited at ceremonies and during rituals.
Who is Brahman? The universal being in the religion of Hinduism.
What is reincarnation? The process through which a person goes from one life to the next.
What's a caste? A lifelong social group into which a person was born.
What is Buddhism? A popular religion that spread throughout South Asia.
Who is the Buddha? The man who was born during the time of conflict and religious questioning in Asia.
What is Bodh Gaya? A town in Asia.
What is enlightenment? A state of pure goodness that anyone could achieve.
What are the Four Noble Truths? The truths used to understand enlightenment.
What is the Eightfold Path? A way of living that can help people find relief from their suffering.
