What are the major causes of imperalism? Christianity, industrialization, nationalism, and power/wealth
What is Christianity in the major causes of imperialism? many missionaries hoped to spread their religion and end slavery
What is industrialization in the major causes of imperialism? the industrial revolution led to a need for raw materials and markets
What is nationalism in the major causes of imperialism? believed it was their duty to spread their ideas and technology as civilization (white man's burden)
What is power/wealth in the major causes of imperialism? countries were in a race to gain as many lands as they could
what is imperialism? dominance of one country over another (establishment of empires)
when did the age of imperialism take place? 1870-1914
what are the types of imperialism? colony, protectorate, sphere of influence, and economic imperalism
what is a colony? a country or a territory governed internally by a foreign power
