Who is Copernicus? He was the first astronomer to formulate a comprehensive heliocentric cosmology, which displaced the Earth from the center of the universe.[
Who is Johannes Kelper? He was a German mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, and key figure in the 17th century scientific revolution. He is best known for his eponymous laws of planetary motion
Who is Galileo Galilei? He was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution. His achievements include improvements to the telescope and consequent astronomical observations, and support for Copernicanism
Who is Isaac Newton? He was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian who is perceived and considered by a substantial number of scholars and the general public as one of the most influential men in history
Who is Francis Bacon? His works established and popularized an inductive methodology for scientific inquiry, often called the Baconian method or simply, the scientific method
Who is Rene Descartes? He was a French philosopher, mathematician, physicist, and writer. He has been dubbed the "Father of Modern Philosophy", and much of subsequent Western philosophy.
How did the refrimation/renissiance encourage the Scientific revolution? The Renaissance and Reformation were liberating influences, encouraging people to think beyond the narrow doctrines of the Catholic Church and develop new methods of inquiry and reasoning, leading to great scientific advances.
What were the concequences of the scientific revolution? The prominent minds of the time who contributed to it, the conflict between science and the religious establishment that developed, and its implications on world history.
What was the Royal Society of London? The Royal Society was dedicated to the free flow of information and encouraged communication.
