The Tigris/Euphrates, the Nile, the Indus, and the Huang He/Yangtze Rivers.

| Hindu Kush and Himalaya Mts. | Protected cities in the Indus River Valley from invasion. |
| Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro | Cities in the Indus River Valley. |
| Polytheistic | Worshiping more than one god, (almost all River Valley Civs. had this type of religion). |
| Nubians | A civilization that lived along the southern part of the Nile River. |
| Mesopotamia | Another name for the Tigris and Euphrates River Valley. |
| Hereditary rulers | Rulers who inherit power because they are a member of a dynasty, (all River Valley Civs. used this). |
| Centralized government | Having one person in charge of the entire government or civilization, (all River Valley Civs. used this). |
| Slavery | Forcing someone to work without payment, (all River Valley Civs. used this). |
| Pharoahs | Egyptian kings |
| Huang He River Valley | Located in China. |
| Hieroglyphics | Writing system used by the Egyptians and Nubians. |
| Cuneiform | Writing system used by civilizations in the Tigris and Euphrates River Valley. |
| Egyptians | A civilization that lived along the northern part of the Nile River. |
| Sahara Desert | It surrounded the Nile River and protected the Egyptians from invasions. |
