PREATHORIZATION Confirmation by a dental benefits plan that a pretreatment plan is authorized for payment.
MANUFACTURER company that produces the product/goods
VENDOR Company that sells the products/goods
CONSUMER Company or person who uses the products/goods
BRAND NAME Manufactured supplies and products that are identified by a registered trademark
GENERIC NAME Name of the product that is based on its composition
DENTAL SUPPLY HOUSE Company that sells several different manufacturers' products/goods
BIRTHDAY RULE A method used to determine which parent is considered the primary provider of dental coverage
COPAYMENT The portion of the service fee that remains after payments is made by the dental benefits plan
DEDUCTIBLE The service fee that the patient is responsible for paying before the third party will consider payment of additional services
CAPITATION A contract with a dental benefits plan that stipulates that payment will be made to the dentist per patient.
