| hunter-gatherer | Person who lives by hunting animals and gathering plants |
| technology | skills and tools people use to address needs and wants (to make life easier) |
| Paleolithic Era | about 2.5 million years ago to about 10,000 years ago (also known as the Old Stone Age) |
| culture | Beliefs, customs, practices, and behaviors (way of life) of certain people or groups |
| nomad | a person who moves from place to place without a permanent settlement |
| migration | the movement of humans from one settlement location to another |
| adapt | to change how you live to fit your environment |
| ice ages | periods of time lasting thousands of years when glaciers (large sheets of ice) covered the Earth |
| animism | Belief that the natural world is full of spirits |
| Neolithic Era | starting about 10,000 years ago and lasting about 2,000-4,000 years (also known as the New Stone Age) |
| revolution | complete change in ways of thinking, working, or living |
| agriculture | farming |
| Neolithic Agricultural Revolution | When people completely shifted from hunting to farming & establish permanent settlements |
| domesticate | to tame or change the growth of plants & animals in ways that are useful to humans |
| specialization | concentrating on a particular job or craft |
