DEXA DUAL ENERGY XRAY ABSORPTIOMETRY. USES DUAL (2) XRAY BEAMS WITH DIFFERENT ENERGY LEVELS TO CREATE A TWO DIMENSIONAL IMAGE. CAN DETECT AS LITTLE AS 1% BONE LOSS

HOW TO MEASURE A PATIENT'S EXPOSURE TO XRAYS REM - UNIT OF RADIATION RAD - RADIATION ABSORPTION DOSE. 1 REM AND 1 RAD ARE THE SAME THING. 10K RAD IS A LETHAL DOSE. HALF LIFE MEASURES THE RATE OF DECAY OF RADIATION IN PATIENTS. EG. HOW MUCH TIME IT TAKES 1/2 TO DISSAPATE.
