| Absolute Contraindication | In which Massage is inappropriate, not advised and may be harmful to the client. |
| Contraindication | Presence of a disease or physical condition that makes the task of treating a particular client on the usual manner, inadvisable. |
| Local Contraindication | Contraindication in which Massage can be administered while avoiding the infected or inflamed areas in question. |
| Assessment | Process involved in appraising a clientâs condition based on reporting and objective findings. |
| Subjective Data | Information learned from the client or the clients guardian or representative. |
| Objective Data | Information that is measurable and quantative. |
| Hypoallergenic | Product that underwent lengthy testing and the majority of subjects were unaffected. |
| Acute | Pain that begins abruptly and usually has an identifiable/recognizable cause. |
| Chronic | Pain that develops slowly and persists for long periods. |
| Comorbid | Presence of one or more diseases, in addition to a primary disease. |
| Palpation | Touching with purpose and intent. |
| Client Interview | An important asset of assessment in addition to a basic form the client fills out. |
| Attending Therapist | The person who is conducting the client interview. |
| Listening | Primary skill used by the therapist when gathering subjective information. |
| Observation | One of two primary skills used for gathering objective information that includes Palpation. |
