| Gastrointestinal Tract | Digestive Tract, begins with the mouth and ends with the anus. |
| Ingestion | Complex food material taken into the mouth |
| Digestion | Food is broken down, mechanically and chemically, as it travels through the gastrointestinal tract. |
| Digestive Enzymes | Speed up chemical reactions and aid the breakdown of complex nutrients. |
| Amino Acid | the breakdown of more complex proteins |
| Triglycerides | Three parts fatty acids and one part glycerol |
| Fatty Acids | the simplest breakdown of large fat or lipid molecules |
| Absorption | nutrients from digested food pass through the lining cells or epithelium of the small intestine and into the bloodstream |
| Colon | Consists of ascending, descending, and sigmoid sections. |
| Gallbladder | Small sac under the liver; stores bile. |
| First part of the large intestine. | Cecum |
