Mesopotamia

A set of activities about Art, Society and religion

QuestionAnswer
Aristocracy Composed by the king´s family and the nobility. They owned the land and had some ruling posts.
Priests Responsible of the religious rituals, they owned lands and workshops.
Scribes Officials, able to read and write. Registered law and commercial activity.
Merchants Traded with metals and other products with other regions.
Craftmen Such as weavers, carpenters, jewellers, that worked in workshops.
Peasants Rented the land in exchange of part of the harvests.
Slaves Worked for others and had no rights.
King Political, military and religious authority.
Polytheistic The Mesopotamian people also believed in many gods.
Anu The god of heaven
Enlil The god of wind
Ishtar Goddes of love and war
Ziggurat It´s a stepped (con escalones) pyramid.
Relief Small sculptures pasted in the wall.
