Gray Top 8x's Contains and used in? Sodium Fluoride Sodium Fluoride yeilds Serum Add Na2EDTA or Potassium Oxalate =Plasma Chemistry glucose test, alcohol Note: Sodium Fluoride is a glucose preservative only!
What is the difference between (PPT) Plasma Preparation Tubes (PST) Plasma Separator Tubes? (PPT) uses K2EDTA anticoagulate and separation gel that will separate the plasma when centrifuge. (PST) uses Heparin anticoagulant
Heparin is? Heparin is anticoagulant that prevents clotting by inhibiting thrombin in the coagulation cascade.
Potassium Oxalate is? Anticoagulant that prevents clotting by binding calcium (Ca)
Sodium Fluoride is? Antiglycolytic agent a glucose "preservative." And inhibits microbial growth. Stability for 3 days.
Sodium polyanethol Sulfonate (SPS) is? Anticoagulant prevents clotting by binding (Ca) Inhibits the action of complement phagocytosis and certain antibiotics.
Polymer barrier gel is? A substance that under goes a temporary change in viscosity during centrifugation to create a barrier between cells, plasma or serum and to prevent contamination.
Sodium Citrate is? Anticoagulant prevent clotting by binding calcium (Ca)
Red/Gray, gold Top (SST) 5x's Contains and used in? Silica Clot Activator and ploymer barrier gel Serum Chemistry Tests
Red (plastic)Top Silica Clot Activator Serum Chemistry Serology
Yellow/Gray, Orange Top 8x's Contains and used in? Thrombin Sample type-Serum Chemistry
Royal Blue Top 8x's Contains and used in? Silica Clot activator- Serum or Sodium Heparin-Plasma or K2EDTA-Plasma Chemistry trace elements, toxicology and nutrient analyses
Tan Top 8x's Contains and used in? K2EDTA-Plasma Chemistry lead tests Note: Certified to contain less then 0.1 ug/0.1 mL of lead
Yellow Top 8x's Contains and used in? 1. Sterile, yellow top, Sodium Polyanethol Sulfonate (SPS) Anticoagulant Whole Blood Microbiology blood cultures 2. Sterile, yellow top anticoagulant-Acid Citrate Dextrose(ACD) Whole Blood Blood Bank
Red/Light Gray, Clear Top 8x's Contains and used in? Non additive Discard tube
Light Blue/Black Top (CPT) 8x's Contains and used in? Sodium Citrate, polyester gel and density gradient liquid Whole Blood Molecular diagnostics
Red/Green Top (CPT) 8x's Contains and used in? Sodium Heparin, polyester gel and density gradient liquid Whole Blood Molecular diagnostics Note: Testing requires heparinized Blood
Orange Top (RST) 5x's Contains and used in? Thrombin based medical clotting agent, separation gel Serum Chemistry, Serology
Acid Citrate Dextrose is? Anticoagulant Acid Citrate prevents Clotting by binding (Ca) Dextrose is RBC preservative.
Phenotyping is? The physical appearance of an organism as distinguished from its genetic makeup. The phenotype of an organism depends on which genes are dominant and on the interaction between genes and environment
The ratio of blood to the liquid Sodium Citrate is critical. What is the ratio and what color top do you use? 9 to 1 Light Blue Top
K2 EDTA is? Ethylenediamine tetraacetic Acid Dipotassium binding (Ca)-Spray coating Anticoagulant of choice, maintains cellular integrity, inhibits platelet clumping, no interfere with routine staining procedures
K3EDTA is? Ethylenediamine tetraacetic Acid Tripotassium binding (Ca)-Liquid
(PPT) Plasma Preparation Tube contains? Contains K2EDTA anticoagulant Plasma
Sodium Citrate is? anticoagulant binding (Ca)
Silica Clot Activator works by? increases platelet activation, shorting the time to clot.
Red (Glass) Top Contains no additives Serum Blood Bank Chemistry Serology
(RST) Rapid Serum tube is? Clot within 5 min. Centrifuged 10 min, STAT serum chemistry test
(CPT) Cell Preparation Tube contains what? Contains a polyester gel and a density gradient liquid with an anticoagulant. Light blue/Black top, sodium citrate Red/Green top, sodium heparin Note: density gradient media for the separation or extraction of leukocytes, viruses, DNA,
