PET scan Positron Emission Tomography scan; an imaging procedure that uses radiation to produce cross sections of the brain
Myelomeningocele myelo/meningo/cele A hernia of the spinal cord and meninges
Neuroglycopenia neuro/glyco/penia Deficiency of sugar that interferes with normal brain activity
TIA Transient Ischemic Attack; a "mini-stroke" caused by the blockage of a blood vessel, which resolves within 24 hours
Encephalomyeloneuropathy encephalo/myelo/neuro/pathy Disease of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves
Endarterectomy end/arter/ectomy Removal of the inside of an artery
SRS Stereotactic radiosurgery
Anxiolytic anxio/lytic A drug that lessens anxiety
Cerebotomy cerebro/tomy Incision into the brain
Encephalopyosis encephalo/py/osis A pus-filled abscess in the brain
