What are manors? farming communities found on all fiefs

What is a seneschal? an official whose job it was to look after the noble's fief by regularly visiting the fief
What is a bailiff? an official whose job it was to look after the peasants and make sure they worked hard
What is the village green? an open area around which cottages were crowded
What was a freeman? peasants who paid the noble for the right to farm land
What was a serf? It was a person who was part of the nobles property. They could not move to another area, own their own property, or marry without the nobles permission. By the end of the middle ages they could buy their freedom.
What was the major cause of disease in the Middle Ages? fleas
Why was the reason rats were rampant in the middle ages? dirty conditions
Where were the fleas? on the rats and in the straw bedding
