9 November 1923 | Hitler and Ludendorff with about 3,000 supporters, some of whom were members of the SA, decided to march through Munich, hoping to win mass public support. This uprising failed because the police blocked their way and arrested Ludendorff. Hitler got away. |
11 November 1923 | Hitler was arrested for his part in the uprising. |
February 1924 | Hitler was put on trial for his part of the uprising. Hitler turned this into propaganda to attack the Weimar Republic for signing the Treaty o Versailles. The court was sympathetic to Hitler. He had a minimum sentence of 5 yr's. |
February - July 1924: Imprisonment | Hitler only served 9 months of his 5 year sentence in prison. In that time he wrote an autobiography called Mein Kampf (My Struggle). This book was a success for Hitler. |
