Nationalism

TermDefinition
Nationalism The belief that people should be loyal mainly to their nation.
Nation-State An independent geopolitical unit of people having a common culture and identity.
Chauvinism exaggerated or aggressive patriotism.
Sardinia The largest and most powerful of the Italian states
Cavour He was the prime minister of Sardinia and he led the army that conquered northern Italy.
Garibaldi He led a small army of rebel nationalists and captured Sicily and all of southern Italy.
Czar Alexander II He wanted to make modernization and social changes in Russia.
Simon Bolivar He was a revolutionary leader in the independence wars of South America
Otto Von Bismarck He was the master of realpolotik
German Confederation A loose grouping of 39 German states
