MESOAMERICA- Meso comes from the Greek word for “middle”. The region includes lands stretching from Valley of Mexico to Costa RIca in Central America
SOUTH AMERICA- One of the 7 continents. Located SOuth of North America
OLMEC- Started the FIRST complex civilizations around 1500 BCE. In 1200 BCE Built a far reaching trading empire. Near present day Vera Cruz, Mexico. Lasted about 800 years.
MAYA- Built a civilization in the rainforests of the Yucatan Peninsula and used their central location, southern Mexico and Central America , to trade with canoes.
INCA- Civilization built in the Andes Mountain ranges of present day Peru. Built thee biggest Empire in the ancient Americas. It centered around the capital Cuzco, founded in 1100 ACE
AZTEC-- Warlike nomads arrived in the Valley of Mexico in 1250 ACE and built their own kingdom. The king was the top of the Aztec empire. Kings claimed to be descendants of the gods.
