| absolutism | form of government where the leader has all the power |
| unlimited government | form of government where the leader has complete power |
| monarchy | form of government with a monarch(king/queen/emperor) has control of the government. |
| constitution | a set of rules the government must follow. |
| divine right | theory where the king believes that God gave him the power to rule and if you go against him you are going against God. |
| Magna Carta | Document signed by King John of England that limited his power. |
| English Bill of Rights | Document in England that protects the given rights of the people. |
| democracy | form of government where the people have power to make decisions in governmental decisions. |
| separation of powers | political theory where the government power is separated into three branches. |
| checks and balances | political theory where the government branches check each other so that one doesn’t gain too much power. |
| philosopher | someone who studies philosophy; lover of wisdom. |
| scientific method | a way to ask scientific question and answer the question with observations. |
| heliocentric | Theory where the Sun is the center of the universe used by Copernicus. |
| geocentric | Theory where the Earth is the center of the universe used by the Catholic Church. |
