Circulatory & Lymph System

Blood Liquid connective tissue with fluid component (plasma) and solid component (red/white corpuscles and platelets)

Red Corpuscles Double concave disk-shaped cells with substance called hemoglobin.
Function of Red Corpuscles Carry oxygen from the lungs to the body cells and transport carbon dioxide from cells to the lungs.
Color of blood in arteries Bright red
Color of blood in veins (except Pulmonary) Dark red
White corpuscles Leucocytes protect the body against diseases
Plasma fluid component of the blood straw like in color win which red/white corpuscles and platelets are suspended.
Anemia Rapid loss or inadequate supply of red blood cells
Sickle cell anemia Inherited disorder in which abnormal hemoglobin causes RBC to assume a sickle shape
Leukemia Form of cancer - Uncontrolled production of WBC don't mature -non functional.
Function of the Lymphatic system Collect excess tissue fluid, invading microorganisms, damaged cells and protein molecules that are to large/toxic to return to blood system through capillary walls
Lymph capillaries are not located in the: Skin, CNS, bones and endomycin of muscles
What duct do the lymph from legs, abdomen, left arm/side of head, neck adn chest flow Thoracic duct
Blood cells that re able to engulf and digest cellular debris and foreign bodies in the tissues Phagocytosis
