Meso-America | area extending from central Mexico to Honduras, where several of the ancient complex societies of the Americas developed |
slash and burn | farming method that involves clearing fields by cutting everything down then burning the ashes for fertilizer |
Tenochtitlan | Urban center and capital of the Aztec people |
tribute | payment made by a weaker power to a stronger power to keep peace |
