Digestive System

TermDefinition
Alimentary Canal A long muscular tube.
Anus A hole which opens.
Colon Large intestine.
Digestive System Is responsible for physical and chemical breakdown of food.
Duodenum 9-10 inches long and is the beginning of the small intestines.
Esophagus Is a muscular tube dorsal to behind the trachea.
Gallbladder Is a small, muscular sac located under the liver and is attached to the liver by the connective tissue.
Hard Palate Bony structure that forms the roof of the mouth and separates the mouth from the nasal cavity.
Ileum Is 12 feet long and it connects with the large intestines at the cecum.
Jejunum Is the middle section of the small intestines.
