People in the life of Teresa of Jesus

TermDefinition
Antonio Aguiar Friend of Gracian and a doctor from Burgos who treated Teresa from January to July 1582. He helped make a foundation in Burgos.
Juan de Albornoz He and his wife, Ines Nieto were in the service of the Duke of Alba. He helped the Carmelites by contributing money and an image of Our Lady.
Pedro Alvarez Cimbron (Peralvarez) A distant relative of Teresa and friend of her brother, Lorenzo. He took in Beatriz de Ahumada, Teresa's niece, when she was calumniated.
Rodrigo Alvarez A Jesuit from Seville who examined Teresa's writings when she was examined by the Inquisition 1575-1576. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Teresa, but only after reading her accounts.
Ana de los Angeles (Ordonez/Gomez) Entered the Incarnation at age 7 and lived there with Teresa for 20 years. In 1562 she transferred to St. Joseph's and served as subprioress. She helped make foundations in Medina (1567) Malagon (1568) and Toledo (1569) Cuerva (1585).
Ana de San Agustin (Pedruja) Entered the Carmel in Malagon and helped found the Carmel in Villanueva. He provincial ordered her to write her autobiography which she signed in 1609. Alonso de San Jeronimo wrote a biography of her.
