| Talmud | A book with commentaries explaining Jewish laws. |
| Yom Kippur | What Jews consider the holiest day of the entire year. |
| Rabbis | Jewish religious leaders and teachers. |
| Judah | Conflicts between jigs forced Israelites to break into two kingdoms. The Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah. |
| Abraham | The Jews claimed him as their ancestor. According to the Bible, God promised Abraham that his descendants would be a mighty nation. |
| Torah | The law. It is the first part of the Hebrew bible. It is the most sacred text of Judaism. A central part of all Jewish religious services is reading passages from the Torah. |
| Passover | Holiday where Jews celebrate the Exodus. |
| Temple | With the riches they gained through trade, the Israelites built a great building fir the worship of God in Jerusalem. |
| Hanukkah | The holiday celebrates the miracle of the oil lamp in the temple. |
