| Cuneiform | sumerian writing system made up of wedge shaped markings |
| Scribe | people who copy manuscripts |
| Empire | group of lands under one ruler |
| Barter/Trade | to exchange goods without using money |
| Ziggurat | an ancient tower in the shape of a pyramid made of mud bricks |
| Caravan | group of traveling merchants and animals |
