Jesus A Jew who claimed to be the Messiah
Apostle One of the followers of Jesus who preached and spread his teachings.
Paul A Jew who was first an enemy of Christianity, but then converted and became one of the twelve apostles.
Diaspora The dispersal of Jews from their homeland in Palestine
Constantine A roman emperor who fought three rivals for leadership of Rome.
Bishop A Christian official who supervises a number of local churches
Peter An apostle who became bishop of Jerusalem
Pope The bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church
Inflation A decline in the value of money
Mercenary A soldier that is paid to fight in a foreign army
Diocletian A strong army leader who became the new emperor of Rome
Constantinople The city of Constantine
Attila the chieftain of the Huns
Greco-Roman culture A culture that developed from a blending of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman cultures
Pompeii A roman town whose volcano erupted and was covered in ash
Virgil A roman poet who wrote the Aeneid
Tacitus A historian who wrote about the good and bad of imperial Rome.
