Smooth muscle -involuntary -visceral
skeletal muscle -voluntary -striated
ATP energy needed to make muscles move (NOT generated by muscles)
Oxygen debt the amount of oxygen "owed" to the body to enable recovery / return to a resting state
Quadricep group front of leg
Hamstring group back of leg
atrophy loss of muscle mass
fibromyalgia musculoskeletal pain and fatigue
Treatments for fibromyalgia -no cure -tx is geared toward increasing quality of sleep and reducing pain -muscle relaxants -pain relievers -anti-inflammatory meds -anti-anxiety meds -PT
myasthenia gravis (MG) -Autoimmune neuromuscular disease with weakness in face and throat
sprain injury to ligament (bone to bone) w/ stretching or tearing
strain injury to muscle or tendon
tendonitis inflammation of tendon (attaches muscle to bone)
tetanus fatal infection caused by bacteria
Tetanus signs and symptoms -painful muscle spasms -lockjaw -difficulty swallowing
trapezius muscle that covers shoulder blade
deltoid shoulder muscle
latissimus dorsi lower back muscle
biceps -front of humerus -flexion of elbow
triceps -back of humerus -extension of elbow
pectoralis chest muscles
