Key Terms

Pentecost the day Jesus sent the gift of the Holy Spirit to his disciples; marks the beginning of the Church
Confirmation Sacrament of Christian Initiation in which the Holy Spirit strengthens our faith and helps us become fuller members of the Church
Grace God's life within us that fills us with His love
Wisdon helps us to know God's will for our lives
Understanding enables us to know the teachings of our Catholic faith
Right Judgment helps us to know what is right and to make good choices
Courage strengthens us to be witnesses of Jesus Christ and to defend our Catholic faith
Knowledge helps us to know that God is more important than anything else in life
Reverence helps us to love and respect God and all that he has created
Wonder and Awe helps us to be filled with reverence for God and thanksgiving for all of creation
New Commandment known as the Law of Love; it is the loving message in which Jesus united the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes into one
Examination of Conscience a process by which we decide whether our words and actions show love for God and others
Fourth Commandment teaches us to obey our parents and those in charge of us
Fifth Commandment helps us to keep healthy and respect the life and health of others
Sixth Commandment helps us to respect our bodies and the bodies and privacy of others
Blessed Sacrament another name for the Eucharist kept in the tabernacle
Tabernacle a container in church where the Blessed Sacrament is kept for distribution to those unable to come to Mass due to illness, or for personal prayer
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament a special devotion that gives thanks and praise to Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament
