| Classicism | A return to the ideals of Greece and Rome in intellectual thought, art and architecture |
| Flanders | It was the city that served as the center for the Northern Renaissance |
| Florence | It was a trade (textiles) and major banking city in Italy that served as the center for the Italian Renaissance |
| Greco-Roman | A blend of Greek and Roman cultures |
| Humanism | A movement celebrating the glory and power of human beings as an important part of the world |
| Perspective | The appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer |
| Renaissance | It is a rebirth; The Italian and Northern Renaissance were a rebirth of Greco-Roman culture |
| Republics | The government of each Italian city-state where citizens control the government. |
| Secularism | An interest in the nonreligious world and enjoyment of worldly pleasures |
| Sistine Chapel | Michelangelo painted the ceiling of this chapel with "The Last Judgment" on the end of the cathedral |
| Usury | The act of charging interest on money loaned |
