Cultural Diffusion the spreading of culture.
System of Writing only had verbal language. adapted to kanji(chinese language) and made it kana (borrowed letters) to fit the sounds of the Japanese language.

kana "borrowed letters" Japanese invented language using Chinese characters. Allows the Japanese to spell out the sounds of their own language.
