Custom The frequent repetition of an act, to the point where it becomes a characteristic of the group of people performing it
Folk culture Traditionally practiced in small, homogeneous, rural groups that are relatively isolated from other groups. The origins are generally untraceable, and it is passed down via oral tradition.
Habit A repetitive act performed by a particular individual
Popular culture Found in large, heterogeneous societies that share certain habits despite different personal characteristics. Often developed by a specific individual for monetary gain.
Taboo A restriction on behavior imposed by social custom
Terroir The contribution of a location's physical features to the way its food tastes
