Effects of the additives

Sodium Fluoride (NaF) Prevents glycolysis (breakdown of glucose in blood)....preserves glucose.
EDTA anticoagulant that prevents clotting by binding calcium, also preserves cell shape and structure and inhibits clumping
Heparin anticoagulant that prevents clotting by inhibiting thrombin formation
Sodium Citrate (NaC) anticoagulant that prevents clotting by binding calcium
Potassium Oxalate (KOx) anticoagulant used with antiglycolytic agent NaF......prevents clotting NaF prevents glucose breakdown
silica glass particles that enhance coagulation....clot activator
thixotropic gel forms a physical barrier between the cells and the serum or plasma when centrifuged
